Xiaomi 11T Pro 5G: first impression

Leading smartphone maker Xiaomi launched the highly anticipated 11T Pro 5G premium series in India on Wednesday, January 19.

The company is offering the new Xiaomi 11T Pro 5G in three configurations – 8GB RAM + 128GB storage, 8GB RAM + 256GB storage and 12GB RAM + 256GB storage – for Rs 39,999, Rs 41 999 for the 8GB + 256GB and Rs 43,999, respectively.

DH has received the review unit and here are our first thoughts on the new flagship phone from the house of Xiaomi.

Design and display

One of the standout aspects of the Xiaomi 11T Pro is the design language. In particular, the celestial magic model is pleasing to the eye. It reflects the psychedelic colors of sunlight when viewed from different angles.

It is very fluid, so I would advise potential future owners of the device to be careful when displaying the device outdoors. Glassy surface and weight can make it slip easily from hands. It is best to use the shell cover. By the way, the company offers a transparent soft silicone cover with the retail box. It retains the charm of the device and also saves time to clean the shell from fingerprints.

There are two other variants: meteorite black and moonlight white, which are also visually appealing.

On the front, it sports a large 6.67-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display and supports 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, which is handy for playing graphics-rich games and browsing the web.

Moreover, the display supports up to 1000 nits peak brightness and Dolby Vision, which promises a better viewing experience.

On top, the company has incorporated Corning’s Gorilla Glass Victus shield, which is touted as the strongest glass cover for any Android phone in the market.

The device also has a side-mounted fingerprint sensor and it has performed well so far.

photography equipment

Xiaomi 11T Pro comes with feature-rich camera hardware – 108MP main sensor (1/1.52-inch, f/1.75 sensor) backed by 8MP 120-degree (f/2.2 aperture) and 5MP ultra-wide-angle sensors ( f2/2.4 ) AF tele-macro camera (3cm-7cm) with LED flash on the rear side. And, on the front, it houses 16MP (f/2.45).

I took some photos in the afternoon and I must say that I was impressed. The colors look natural and the details have also been captured well. Now I’m very keen to test its Night Mode capabilities and will share the details in the full review, which is due out next week.

CPU configuration

Xiaomi 11T Pro is powered by Qualcomm’s 5nm-class Snapdragon 888 chipset, which is integrated with Adreno 660 GPU. It is supported by 8GB/12GB RAM and 128GB/256GB storage (UFS 3.1).

So far, the device has performed well without any issues during activities such as opening apps, browsing the web, and using the camera. But, I have to see how the device performs when subjected to heavy tasks such as playing high-powered graphics-intensive games such as the Asphalt 9 series.

The new phone uses MIUI 12.5 based on Android 11 and I understood that this device will be one of the first Xiaomi phones to get MIUI 13 based on Android 12. Besides, the company promised to bring three major updates to the Android operating system and an additional year of security software support. It’s a very good decision and it surely contributes to consumer loyalty.

The USP of the new Xiaomi 11T Pro is HyperCharge technology. The company claims that the device, which comes with a massive 5,000mAh battery, can fully charge from zero to 100% in less than 17 minutes. This is the fastest charging speed for any commercial phone on the market.

Additionally, Xiaomi claims that the device has undergone 35 safety checks and rigorous testing to ensure that it does not overheat while charging.

As for 5G, the 11T Pro supports 13 SA/NSA bands (n1/3/5/7/8/20/28/38/40/41/66/77/78) and whenever the infrastructure is getting ready, device owners will be able to enjoy high-speed Internet access of up to 7.5 Gbps (download) and 3 Gbps upload speed.

With a starting price of Rs 39,999, the Xiaomi 11T Pro 5G appears to be a good value premium smartphone. I am very eager to check the performance of the device while playing high-end games, as well as photography experience, and really eager to check the super fast charging speed.
