Method Co., a Philadelphia-based property management, development and design firm with roots in the hospitality industry, today unveiled the name and more details of its newest property, The Quoin, in addition to new renderings of hotels and a website landing page. The new luxury boutique hotel will be located in the historic former Security Trust & Safe Deposit Company building at 519 Market Street in Wilmington, Delaware, and is expected to open in late summer 2022. The Buccini/Pollin Group, Inc. (BPG), Delaware’s largest real estate developer and a nationwide hotel owner/operator, selected Method Co. for this project.

Method Co.’s goal for The Quoin is to honor the history of the Security Trust & Safe Deposit Company Building, a four-story Victorian brownstone designed by famed Philadelphia architect Frank Furness, while adding a new point of lasting benchmark for hospitality. the fabric of downtown Wilmington, Delaware. The historic property now has 24 luxury hotel rooms, a lobby coffee bar with fireplace, a 155-seat restaurant on the ground floor with dining in the courtyard, a cocktail lounge on the lower level and Wilmington’s premier rooftop bar and event space.

The hotel takes its name from the old French word meaning “corner” Where “angle.” The name ties the building’s history, location, and architecture together in one thread, as cornerstones are most common in Western architecture, especially Romanesque styles.

The hotel’s contemporary interior design has been carefully considered by Method Studios in partnership with Stokes Architecture. With attention to detail at all touchpoints and a high standard of craftsmanship, the property gives way to a supremely authentic guest experience.

The new boutique hotel, designed by Method Studios, capitalizes on its historic location with a nature-inspired identity, a palette influenced by original Victorian-era paintings dating back to 1820, and psychedelic hand-drawn floral illustrations. Returning to the historic corner of Lower Market St., the visual identity revolves around a custom hand-drawn logo formed by the legacy of its earlier business with the prints of engravers and printers.

The hotel’s three distinct culinary concepts will be operated by Method Co.

Le Quoin Restaurant will focus on fresh, wood-fired dishes that celebrate craftsmanship and simplicity. The space will be designed to honor Wilmington’s history and architecture from the 1800s while serving as a modern sanctuary to meet all kinds. The restaurant will feature an open kitchen framed by a spacious dining room outfitted with elegant wood paneling, custom mohair banquettes and leather details.

Quoin’s roof will be Wilmington’s first rooftop lounge serving as a great place for happy hour, social gatherings and light fare. The Quoin Rooftop will be a mix of indoor and outdoor spaces that will serve as the perfect space for events and special occasions.

The hotel’s craft cocktail bar (name to come) will emphasize a low, slow atmosphere with a musical selection as curated as its drinks program. The lounge bar will feature the space’s original brick ceiling and a custom painted mural spanning the entire room by the Reverend Michael Alan.
