NFL away uniforms ranked for all 32 teams, from the Titans to the Steelers

It’s the NFL’s offseason. The real one — stretching into midsummer after all the free agent and draft drama has played out, but before training camps have fully ramped up to ring in the preseason .

That leaves a wasteland of meaningful content for a league that rarely sleeps. And to celebrate that, we’re diving deeper into For The Win’s Clothing Saturdays Series (the name is unofficial, also the registered trademark). Over the past few weekends, we’ve talked about logos, helmet design, and home uniforms. Today, we’re tackling the Whites (and Silvers and Bones) that accompany each franchise on its road trips.

As always, the bulk of these kits are pretty good; don’t worry if your team shows up lower than expected, as there isn’t much distance between the top 20 and the top 10. Classic, clean looks are preferred. Let’s see who ranks where.

No thanks. To all of this.

Outdoor uniform coverall: Green helmet, white jerseys, white pants

The Jets have great colors and great historic uniforms. And that’s what they found. Eh.

Kirby Lee – USA TODAY Sports

Outdoor uniform coverall: Navy blue helmet, white jerseys, white pants

Extreme late 90s vibes from a redesign that fell short of its predecessor and persists, despite the Orange Crush uniforms just waiting to be brought back.

Outdoor uniform coverall: White helmet, red/white jersey, white pants

The panels and piping appeared in 2005 and have remained in place ever since. It didn’t look good either.

Outdoor uniform coverall: Blue helmet, white jersey, blue or white pants

Seahawks continue to evolve in hopes of matching (or setting) design trends and eventually come to look immediately dated. Seattle uniforms are different, which is good. They are not particularly pleasant, however.

Outdoor uniform coverall: Black helmet, white jerseys, white pants

The shoulder yokes of the 2000s are gone, but these uniforms are still a far cry from dress code. Perfection of the first two decades of the team

Geoff Burke – USA TODAY Sports

Outdoor uniform coverall: Burgundy helmet, white jerseys, white pants

Again, commanders have a lot to fix. Uniforms weren’t high on the priority list. Its good.

Robert Scheer/IndyStar/USA TODAY NETWORK

Outdoor uniform coverall: Black helmet, white jerseys, teal pants

Plain pants, plain jerseys, nothing uniform.

Philip G. Pavely – USA TODAY Sports

Outdoor uniform coverall: Black helmet, white jerseys, black or white or purple pants

Baltimore occasionally trades purple pants, which improves this ranking by about five places. As is, it’s a pretty standard and boring look.

Bob Self/Florida Times-Union

Outdoor uniform coverall: Navy blue helmet, white jerseys, white or navy pants

They work better with dark pants than light pants, even though they are more or less generic in the football uniform world.

Danielle Parhizkaran / NorthJersey.com / USA TODAY NETWORK

Outdoor uniform coverall: Green helmet, white jersey, white, black or green pants

Better with the green pants than the white, but either way, it’s a perfectly reasonable uniform that looks much better in the team’s old Kelly green.

Outdoor uniform coverall: Orange helmet, white jerseys, white pants

Your mileage may vary depending on how much you like the black/white stripe print on the sides. A little orange and black goes a long way, so it’s even better than when it looked like a tiger was melting Boomer Esiason’s body.

Outdoor uniform coverall: Silver helmet, white jerseys, white pants

The stripes on the shoulders have the good idea of infusing piecey Caroline blue. The rest of the kit is enough by rote and the tapered leg band can go off anytime.

Cary Edmondson – USA TODAY Sports

Outdoor uniform coverall: Blue helmet, bone jersey, bone or blue pants

A stunning uniform and a great color combination drowned out by the team’s horrid fruit numbers and shoulder boards.

Rich Barnes – USA TODAY Sports

Outdoor uniform coverall: Silver helmet, white jerseys, blue pants

The best combination of a bad situation, New England brought back the stripes on the shoulders to create a better look. But even that effort is going to be blown out of the water when the Patriots bring back their perfect Pat Patriot throwbacks.

Robert Hanashiro – USA TODAY Sports

Outdoor uniform coverall: Silver helmet, white jerseys, silver pants

It lacks the contrast of the home team’s superior uniforms, but the Vegas away kit is instantly recognizable and stoic in its simplicity.

Kirby Lee – USA TODAY Sports

Outdoor uniform coverall: Red helmet, white jerseys, white pants

The red stands out against the white thanks to the yellow reflections. It’s not complex, but it’s *aesthetic*.

David Reginek-USA TODAY Sports

Outdoor uniform coverall: Yellow helmet, white jerseys, yellow pants

White doesn’t work as well with the yellow background as the team’s darker green jerseys. It is always a classic and simple look.

Robert Scheer/IndyStar/USA TODAY NETWORK

Outdoor uniform coverall: White helmet, white jerseys, white pants

Clean and coordinated, with the pants, jerseys and helmet all sharing blue stripes. It looked good four decades ago, and it looks good now.

Wm. Glasheen USA TODAY NETWORK-Wisconsin

Outdoor uniform coverall: Purple helmet, white jersey, purple or white pants

I miss the outlines of the yellow numbers of the previous jerseys. But Vikings ditched their 2000s paneling for a traditional look, and it paid off.

Jason Getz-USA TODAY Sports

Outdoor uniform coverall: Pewter helmet, white jerseys, white or pewter pants

Tampa ditched its dated, fashionable calculator number jerseys for a more classic look in 2019. It was the right move.

Dan Powers/USA TODAY NETWORK-Wisconsin

Outdoor uniform coverall: Silver helmet, white jerseys, silver pants

The color palette is near perfect and there’s just enough blue to make it all pop. The custom font on the numbers is a bit polarizing, but overall it’s a great look.

Tommy Gilligan – USA TODAY Sports

Outdoor uniform coverall: Silver helmet, white jerseys, silver pants

A look so nice that the team also rolls it out for home games throughout the season. The blue and silver pop, creating an instantly recognizable kit.

Chris Coduto-USA TODAY Sports

Outdoor uniform coverall: Golden helmet, white jerseys, golden pants

Add the red socks and you have a perfectly balanced complement of colors against the white canvas of the jersey. San Francisco home kits are good; these are better.

David Butler II-USA TODAY Sports

Outdoor uniform coverall: White helmet, white jerseys, blue or white pants

Great colors, clean jersey numbers and leg and sleeve stripe coordination. It really makes the team’s 2000s panel uniforms look like the retreads they used to be.

Denny Medley – USA TODAY Sports

Outdoor uniform coverall: White helmet, white jersey, white or yellow pants

The Chargers in their all white? Beautiful. The Chargers with their mustard yellow pants? Less, but the blue of the high socks is different enough not to look weird.

Jovanny Hernandez/Milwaukee Journal Sentinel/USA TODAY NETWORK

Outdoor uniform coverall: Navy blue helmet, white jerseys, navy blue pants

Orange is used as a perfect complement in stripes and to highlight names and numbers. The rest of the cut is a navy/white/navy sandwich. A perfect look that’s even better in retro form.

Brian Fluharty – USA TODAY Sports

Outdoor uniform coverall: White helmet, white jerseys, duck blue or white pants

A wonderful color combination helped by the toning down of the green of the mid-2000s team kits to create a more tropical vibe. Bring back the old Dolphin logo and you’ll be #1.

Tommy Gilligan – USA TODAY Sports

Outdoor uniform coverall: Golden helmet, white jerseys, black or golden pants

Simple and clean, with a logo that connects to the city and a design that has largely avoided updates since the team’s inception. There’s no reason to change it, so the Saints don’t.

Brad Mills – USA TODAY Sports

Outdoor uniform coverall: Blue helmet, white jerseys, silver pants

A basic, old school look for a retro franchise. While Daniel Jones (not pictured) can look good in these, anyone can.

Philip G. Pavely – USA TODAY Sports

Outdoor uniform coverall: Orange helmet, white jerseys, orange pants

The sock stripe matches the sleeve stripe. The stripe on the pants matches the stripe on the helmet. White allows a really coarse color combination to shine without being overwhelming. Tremendous.
