Local artist to donate 100 sets of coloring books and watercolor pencils to children | Coronado City News


The Library is pleased to present an event giving away 100 copies of “Color Me Coronado,” a coloring book and watercolor pencil set by local artist Connie Spitzer, on Sunday, May 22 at 1 p.m. in the Winn Room of the Library. public of Coronado. The giveaway is being held in conjunction with the “Coronado Art and Story Book Show,” an exhibit commemorating the 75th anniversary of the Coronado Art Association, in the library’s Spreckels Reading Room through August 15.

The “Color Me Coronado” event will feature a piano performance by Coronado Arts Commissioner Marcus Echols Booth and dancers from the Coronado School of the Arts.

This free program is for children ages 5-11 and their caregivers. The coloring book giveaway is first come, first served. Spitzer will be on hand to donate and sign the coloring books.

The costs of printing the free books and watercolor kit materials are made possible in part by the City of Coronado Arts Commission and the Jim and Bette Sherman Foundation. Artist Connie Spitzer has donated her artist license for the limited edition print of the coloring book. Dancer costumes made possible by the Coronado Community Foundation.

The dance portion is directed and choreographed by Gina Sorenson and features dancers Maria Julia Guerra, Bailey Manion and Sienna Pearson.
