JVBL Offers Programs For Children Of All Ages | News, Sports, Jobs


Did you know that young children learn by talking about what they think and do and by collaborating and sharing ideas?

The James V. Brown Library, 19 E. Fourth St., regularly offers fun and educational programs for students of all ages. Access to educational games, like the programs offered at the library, gives students the opportunity to learn languages, science, math, technology and more.

January 4 – Kindness Club, 5:30 p.m.

January 5 – Baby Café, 3 p.m.

January 7 – Grandparents’ Story Time, 10:30 a.m.

January 12 – Baby Rhyme Time, 3 p.m.

January 12 – Tween Story Share, 5 p.m.

January 13 – After-school craft kits, 4:30 p.m.

January 14 and 28 – Move and Groove, 3 p.m.

January 17 and 31 – Teen Fandom Night, 4:15 p.m.

January 18 and 25 – Preschool story time at 10:15 a.m. and 11:15 a.m.

January 18 – Family dance evening, 5:30 p.m.

January 19 – Baby Rhyme Time, 2:15 p.m.

January 19-22 – Cat Tales, 4:30 p.m.

January 20 and 27 – Tales for toddlers, 10:15 a.m. and 11:15 a.m.

January 21 – Little Red Hen Bread Baking Club, 10 a.m.

January 25 – Registration opens for the 6-week Mandarin children’s course program, which begins on February 8.

January 26 – Baby Pat-A-Cake Playgroup, 10:15 a.m.

Children who are actively engaged in learning become engaged citizens. The library supports the statewide PA Forward initiative, which estimates that when Pennsylvania residents improve their proficiency in five types of literacy – basic, informational, civic and social, health and financial – they can achieve more success as students, parents, employees, consumers, as citizens.

Libraries are community centers of information, technology and learning that will fuel educational and economic opportunities for all of our citizens.

The James V. Brown Library is open to navigation and can be picked up from 10 am to 6 pm Monday through Friday; and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday. To reserve, visit www.jvbrown.edu or call 570-326-0536 during library hours. The library is also open for the use of public computers and for services such as printing, faxing, copying and scanning. Passport walk-in services are available. The James V. Brown Library is PA Library of the Year 2021.
