From balance and strength classes to lunches and songs, there’s no shortage of events at the Council on Aging this month.
All activities, unless otherwise specified, take place at the Multiservices Center, 48 Marion Road. The Council on Aging center is open 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Additionally, free COVID-19 test kits are available at the COA office from 9 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday.
September 9: Red Cross blood drive from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.
September 12: Discussion on current events moderated by Judith Grassi at 10 a.m. in the gymnasium lounge. Call 508-291-3130 to register.
September 12: Monthly book club at 10 a.m. The September book is “The Guernsey Literary and Potato Pie Society”.
September 12: A new class, Balance and Strength, will be led by Neil Sullivan at 1 p.m. every Monday.
September 14: Dinner and Song with Tom and Sheila Monahan at 11:30 a.m. Lunch is $5 and must be reserved by September 8. Call 508-291-3130 to register.
September 14: Deeds Registry Representative John Buckley will brief listeners on Homesteads Law and registry issues affecting older people. He will be able to print the deeds or statutes of mortgage discharge for seniors, as well as questions and answers at 10 a.m.
September 19: Initiation to Reiki at 10 a.m.
September 19: Balance and strength class led by Neil Sullivan at 1 p.m.
September 19: Sail around Buzzards Bay at 3 p.m. with the Buzzards Bay Coalition at the Onset Bay Center. Space is limited. Call 508-291-3130 to reserve a spot.
September 21: Podiatrist Dr. Alan Lechan will be available to respond to seniors’ concerns and help with nail trimming. Bring a list of medications, doctor’s name and date of last visit. The cost is $35.00. Call 508-291-3130 to schedule an appointment.
September 21: Low Vision Support Group at 1 p.m. Karen Hatcher of the State Commission on the Blind will lead the group.
September 26: Crafts at 1 p.m.
September 26: Balance and strength class led by Neil Sullivan at 1 p.m.
September 28: Bingo at 12:30 pm Bingo is cash prizes only. Cards are used for all games and cost $3 each or two for $5. Monthly raffle by Advocates for Wareham Seniors in aid of the ACO.
