Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann retained 27 departments, including the all-important home portfolio, leaving the remaining 29 to his 10 ministers.
On the advice and recommendation of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Governor Banwarilal Purohit assigned portfolios to newly inducted ministers on Monday.

As in the past, CM Mann will hold the portfolios of Interior and Justice and Vigilance. It will also include administrative reforms, civil aviation, general administration, housing and urban development, local communities, industries and commerce, agriculture and farmers’ welfare, horticulture, land and water conservation, food processing, investment promotion, science, technology and the environment, parliamentary affairs, elections, grievance redress, freedom fighters, technical education and industrial training, creation and training jobs, labor, printing and stationery, defense services, welfare, governance reforms, new and renewable sources of energy, and information and public relations. The portfolio, if any, not assigned to any of the Ministers is vested in the Chief Minister.
Dirba MLA Harpal Singh Cheema has been given the portfolios of Finance, Planning, Program Implementation, Excise and Taxation and Cooperation.
Dr. Baljit Kaur has been assigned Social Justice, Empowerment and Minorities and Social Security, Women and Child Development. Harbhajan Singh ETO was in charge of public works and electricity. With health being one of the major focus areas of the new government, Dr. Vijay Singla, a dentist, was given the portfolios of Health and Family Welfare and Medical Education and Research. Lal Chand was assigned food, civil supplies and consumption, forests and wildlife.
Education, another focus area of the AAP government, went to Barnala MLA Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer. It is assigned to the departments of School Education, Sports and Youth and Higher Education.
Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal, a farmer, was put in charge of rural development and panchayats, livestock, fisheries and dairy development. Dhaliwal, who had been an NRI, also received the NRI’s belongings. Laljit Singh Bhullar was responsible for transportation and hospitality. Brahm Shankar Jimpa was assigned to the Departments of Revenue, Rehabilitation and Disaster Management, Water Resources and Water Supply and Sanitation. Harjot Singh Bains was given the portfolios of Legal and Legislative Affairs, Mines and Geology, Tourism and Cultural Affairs and Prisons.
