I would like to take this opportunity to tell you how much we appreciate that the Tribune prints the photos and information of Club Civitan Arabe projects.
Due to the publicity we receive through The Arab Tribune, we have added several new members who have read what we have done and would like to help people in our community.
I tell other citizens of the United States and Canada how fortunate we are in Arabic to have a journal that will help us let people in the community know what we are doing and hopefully encourage them. others to intervene and give of their time.
Civitan’s flagship project is to help adults and children with mental and physical disabilities.
Locally, the Civitans are dedicated to helping in our community.
The club has a full calendar of projects and fundraisers each year.
All funds raised go to community projects and causes with an annual donation to the Civitan International Research Center.
The projects change every year according to the needs.
Arab Civitans are more than a “meet and eat” club. We contribute to the community. Here are some of the ongoing projects:
• Fundraisers – Vidalia Onion Sales, Radio Day on WRAB and Claxton Fruitcakes.
• Service projects – Special Olympics and picnics for high school seniors in the park; Layer reader for DHR; Adopt a thousand; Cookies with Santa, Thanksgiving food, toiletry collections that vary by location, school supplies, school nurse supplies, benches in the city park, recognition of teachers and assistants in the city. special education with a treat bag, patient bags for Marshall Cancer Center, and items at Shriner Hospital.
Here are some of the projects planned for the coming year.
Arab Civitans would like to have you as a member.
The club meets at 6:30 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month in the Arab Masonic Lodge building on South Main Street, next to Otelco.
